Man on the Moon

The Legend:
Marketing:
9.0 Well marketed film, that had great advertising, but didn't give the whole movie away.
Performances:
10.0 Jim Carrey is so good, he's spooky.
Production Design:
9.0 The look is astonishing, in it's scope and accuracy.
Score:
9.1 The score by REM is phenominal, and despite the fact that new and old music are used, it maintains a consistent feel and sound. Well done.
Overall Rating:
9.0 Good movie, but no real depth here.

I really did enjoy this movie. Solid and well done, but the unfortunate part about it, and the reason it didn't score higher is because it lacked any real depth.

Quite simply, if you want the cliff notes on Andy Kaufman's life, but together and performed extraordinarily well, this is your film. But don't expect a "Citizen Kane" style retelling of Andy Kaufman's life. You might walk away appreciating his comedic style, but you won't know the how's and why's any more than when you walked in.

Despite this, it is still a solid film, and I can't stress enough how phenominal Jim Carrey's performance is. I can truly understand why people were outraged that he didn't get nominated for an Oscar.
